Women’s physiology is centred around the concept of Blood in Chinese medicine. In this 2-day course, we will take a closer look at the rhythm of the menstrual cycle itself and the rhythm of fertility in a woman’s life in general. Both from a classical Chinese perspective, and from a Western endocrine perspective, where the period of menopause will be highlighted.
Course
Menopause
Description
We will discuss the changes in the hormonal cycle during menopause and study the influence of the ZangFu and the Qi Jing Ba Mai (8 Extraordinary Meridians) on it. We will also discuss the changes of oestrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH, leptin and all other hormones involved and their interrelationships. Symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, weight gain, mood swings, sleep problems and palpitations will be explained from a Chinese medical point of view, as well as from a Western medical point of view.
We will review the various differential diagnoses from Chinese medicine, both ZangFu and JingLuo, with the corresponding treatment strategies. And subsequently link possible point selections from acupuncture and herbs and herbal formulas from Chinese herbal medicine here.
All in all, an interesting 2-days both Western and Chinese, theoretical, and practical.
